Kantale tank
The Kantale Tank is considered as the largest of the ponds in Trincomalee. The tank is a significant source of drinking water for the people of the city of Trincomalee. King Kulakotttan built the pond. The lower Thampalakamam village looks like it is in a valley when compared to the dam. It is questionable how King of Kulakotta managed to build this tank,during the ancient times, even in this modern times, it's hard to build such a huge water tank that does not dry up at any time with all the modern technologies. A story of daemons being used to build this tank has been believed by locals of this area. Beauty of this place is enjoyed by locals during the morning hours where the sunrise is spotted at this site bringing so many colours out of nature. This tank gives a beautiful view with its green outskirts of paddy fields. However, this is visited more by locals than foreigners due to the fact that there are no nearby restaurants or other facilities to accommodate tourists.
