Kayankerni
Kayankerni is the hostage for one of the major marine environmental sites within the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka, the reef bed is located between Vakarei and Kalkudah in the North of Batticaloa. This peculiar destination is located a few kilometers away from the A15 road that connects Batticaloa and Trincomalee district. Many local tourists visit this place frequently to snorkel and dive. Early risers gather at this point to take on visual shots of the sunrise and to enjoy the first kiss of the sun that reaches the earth. Civilians in this area were largely affected by the long prevailed political unrest and tsunami disaster during the past years. How ever, development activities are being implemented in these areas to build the economy based on tourism value chain.
