Kamakshi amman temple in Batticaloa
Kamatchi amman kovil is situated in Mylampaveli. It is known among devotees for an exotic experience in hinduism, unlike other traditional hindu temples in Batticaloa. This temple, having more of an indian touch in rituals and poojas, holds a uniquely beautiful way of devotion. This temple, being a private property, run by a management of an orphanage named “Karunalayam” is well managed operationally, at the same time, the premises and kept very clean and tidy. At the entrance, there is a huge statue of Hanuman placed inside a lotus pond, followed by an organic vegetable and flower garden. Also, there are peacocks and deers grown in spacious cages inside this temple premises. The small boutiques at the entrance selling fresh organic vegetables, temple needs and an indian restaurant named Akshathai, are the significant aspects of this place. Several seasonal festivals, weddings and other spiritually significant events are celebrated at this temple.
